Donation
The Honnikaeru Project relies on donations for its operation and membership fees. We have approximately 15 staff members, including home-based staff. All of us, including the board members, are unpaid volunteers, so we have no annual personnel costs. One of our beliefs in our activities is to continue to do what we can do without relying on money. We have gained a lot of supporters who understand this belief. We would appreciate your understanding and donations to support the activities of the Honnikaeru Project.
How Donations are Used
Support for prisoners
This is the main activity of the Honinkaeru Project. We receive a constant stream of requests for books to be enclosed in the letters, and in order to meet the facility's limit (no more than three to five books can be mailed to one inmate at a time), we have to send many times, which costs a lot of postage. We have a contract with the post office to use the discounted Yu-mail service.
Office operating expenses
Office rent, utilities, office supplies (computer, printer, envelopes, paper), communication expenses (rental server fees, online storage, telephone)
Support for released persons
A person released from prison may be temporarily sheltered at the office. If the person cannot afford it, food and daily necessities will be provided.
For the future
The work of the office can no longer be done by volunteers alone. We don't have enough people at the office to receive packages. If we have enough funds, we would like to hire part-time staff.
